YOUR DAY JOBS: Students

PREVIOUS MUSICAL EXPERIENCE:

Thom: I’ve played the saxophone since I was about 8, playing in jazz and swing bands whilst I was at school.

Ed: I play the guitar and saxophone and have been collecting records for a few years.

DREAM BOOKING: Livity Sound doing a live set, because they’re the most influential artists to us.

MOST INFLUENTIAL CLUBBING EXPERIENCE:

Ed: Livity Sound live set with Derrick May. It was amazing to see two different strands of techno culture, Detroit and UK, the vibe was just amazing.

Thom: Hunee all night long at Butter Side Up last year. He moved through so many genres during the night and he’s just such a cool guy.

LAST CLUB NIGHT ATTENDED: Alter’s 1st birthday and Selective Hearing with Kowton, Tessela and Pariah

LAST RECORD YOU BOUGHT:

Ed: Qawalli – Pinch

Thom: Ultimate Hits Volume 1 with Lighter-Skanker on it, which I’ve been looking for for ages.

ANY OTHER INTERESTS/HOBBIES:

Ed: windsurfing, cycling, art

Thom: badminton and cooking mainly.

THREE TRACKS THAT SUM UP YOUR EVENT:

Modulate is just an amazing euphoric track with this little breaksy section before the break down, it just represents the scene perfectly.

Hex is just so high energy

Raw code is a massiv favourite of ours, Pev & Kowton at their best

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST EVENT:

It’s a vinyl only night pushing sub driven UK techno and bass, focusing on mainly UK labels and producers. We’ve got Batu coming down from Bristol which we’re really excited about because he’s doing really great things at the moment.

The Broken Mechanics launch party takes place on 15th March 2016 with Batu plus residents.
