It’s a New Year, and there’s a new night making it’s home underground at Wire. It’s called Nørd. We asked organiser Robbie Henriques to tell us about his plans.

  • How have you come to put on this night?

The night is a blend of party aspects we really appreciate, the setting, the sound, colours and crowd. There’s three of us involved; myself, Tim Raben ( music student ) and Angus Merrell ( design student ) . We agreed on aspects we liked about different nights, aspects we didn’t, and began curating our vision. The main fusion really is Music & Art, the visual sentiment of a party can be just as important as the music. We’re paying a lot of attention to detail, that’s why we’re incredibly lucky having Wire to take us on, it’s very personal, with world class sound. Along with the events, NØRD is also creating a platform for our own releases, our new track ‘Ascension’ is going to be released just before the 19th of January, so keep your eyes peeled.

  • Have you been involved in music prior to this?

I’m in my second year at Leeds College of Music, myself and Tim Raben have been producing and DJ’ing for just over a year under the alias’s  Emperor Jimmu & Kudo Sol.

  • What do you like about the city?

The amount of music available in Leeds gets taken for granted, it’s not normal to be torn between different nights every weekend. Leeds College of Music has exposed me to events that I wouldn’t usually find myself at, but there’s a lot of talent coming out of this place, keep a look out for any 8mana shows, completely mind blowing.

  • What sort of things will the night exhibit?

You can expect a different visual and aural journey with each of the 4 selectors, We are bringing Cinnaman over from Amsterdam, Cinnaman’s talent goes unsaid for, a real don dada DJ and with three hours to play with, I can promise he’ll provide something special. We crave that environment where the whole crowd is electric and locked into the same vibe, that’s what we want to achieve in all the events that we provide.

Nørd’s first night at Wire is tonight (19th January 2016) featuring an extended set from Cinnaman. Tickets are available here.
